Way of Council & Forgiveness
Venue & Date TBA for 2025
“Through out eternity, you forgive me. I forgive you.” William Blake to his wife
What is Council?
The age-old art of Council is a ceremonial practice that encourages attentive listening and heartfelt compassionate speaking. Council provides a way of bearing witness and accepts diversity in each other and ourselves and helps cultivate non-hierarchical power.
Through The Way of Council we will look into our hearts to see what holds us back and where there is unresolved pain. We will explore what is weighing us down with old wounding, anger and regret and attend to our unfinished business. We can then ask how we may give and receive forgiveness and open to the qualities of mercy, compassion and self-respect.
We will explore
-
History and cross-cultural roots.
-
Creating special time and place.
-
Practicing the Four Intentions of Council.
-
Sharing our personal stories to deepen the art of listening and speaking from the heart.
-
Various forms of Council – spiral, fish bowl, dyad and more.
-
How we bring compassion and truth into our relationships.
What we will learn
-
Council as a personal practice that has the potential to heal old wounds and deepen love and understanding.
-
Council as a path to healing and wholeness through self-acceptance and a willingness to embrace the shadow and acknowledge what is being suppressed, denied or rejected.
-
That behind the rights and wrongs, the good and bad is a calling inside for self reflection and personal healing that could evoke deeper levels of humanity and the possibility of reconciliation with self and others.
"You must give birth to your images
They are the future waiting to be born
Fear not the strangeness you feel
The future must enter you long before it happens
Just wait for the birth, for the hour of clarity"
Rainer Maria Rilke
