The Way of Council & The Wisdom of Challenge - Finding the gifts in opposition & diversity

Bristol: May 1st - 3rd 2026

In a world facing uncertainty, division, and ecological crisis, many of have questions and longings:

What if these times are also calling us into new forms of listening, of coming together, and of remembering our shared humanity, responsibilities and solidarity?

We are again in a time of division and deep injustice. The question arises: how do we stand between the tension of opposites? Not by ‘othering’, not by condoning, but by holding the whole in truth, in justice, and in love.

The Way of Council is a simple yet profound practice of speaking and listening from the heart. In this weekend gathering, we will explore what it means to sit in circle, to witness and be witnessed, and to open to the wisdom that comes from holding difference with compassion.

  • What is my role in this time?

  • Where do I find belonging and strength?

  • How can I meet difference with openness rather than fear?

We will explore how to stay present in times of polarisation, and how to hold tension without collapsing into judgement, avoidance, or despair. Together, we will seek the small but vital actions that restore integrity, courage, and relational healing.

Council invites us to bear witness to suffering, and at the same time, to live with gratitude and act in kindness.

Through stories, silence, listening, and speaking from the heart, Council helps us build a community that honours diversity and celebrates the sacred within and all around us.
