Way of Council Way on Love & Holding Suffering
Where love meets what is hardest to hold

The Julian Centre, Norwich. November 6th - 8th 2026

“Whether the soul is in a state of seeking or finding, the way we honour God most is through unconditional surrender”
Julian of Norwich, The Showings of Julian of Norwich

Together we will:

  • Speak from the heart, in our own time

  • Listen without interruption, judgment, or advice

  • Allow silence to be part of the circle

  • Make space for both tenderness and strength

There are times in life when we are asked to meet what feels too much -
grief, uncertainty, pain, or the quiet weight of what we carry alone.

And yet, alongside this, there is also love.

Rooted in the Way of Council, we gather not to fix or resolve,
but to honour what is here, and to explore what it means
to hold our suffering in the presence of love.

You are welcome to bring whatever is true for you -
whether that is grief, questions, gratitude, or simply a wish to sit quietly in shared presence.

This Council is held in resonance with the contemplative spirit of the Julian Centre,
and the enduring insight:

“All shall be well - and how do we live that now?”

And within this Council, you will learn the art of this ancient practice, the Way of Council, where truth and love are at the centre of the circle, and the natural world is our support and guidance, embracing the spirit of the Julian Centre.

No experience of Council is needed. All are welcome.
